Many of us buy foods in bulk or are considering doing so. There are many reasons why you may wish to do this and equally as many advantages and disadvantages of doing so. Here is a summary of some of the pros and cons of buying your groceries in bulk.
Advantage One- It Can Save Money
One of the main reasons and advantages of buying food in bulk is that it can potentially save you money. The more you buy, the more you save. This is particularly true if you buy food in bulk from a wholesale store. However, most supermarkets
have promotions such as buy two, get the third free. Many people choose to buy in bulk at the times when they can take advantage of the best offers available to them.Advantage Two- You Will Always Have Food In
If there’s one thing to say about buying food in bulk, it’s that the cupboards will never be bare in your home. This is one of the main reasons that people buy food in bulk, so that they can stock up items that will keep and always have a ready supply of food available.
Advantage Three- You Will Have to Shop Less Often
Another advantage of buying food in bulk is that you will then have to shop for grocery supplies on a less regular basis. If
you have bought store cupboard and freezer products in bulk, then you will only have to buy fresh produce on a regular basis.Disadvantage One- There May be Wastage of Food
Whilst buying in bulk may save you money, it may also waste you money. If you buy fresh produce in bulk and this is then left unused and goes out of date or turns bad, then much of what you have bought will be discarded.
Disadvantage Two- Not Enough Room to Store Fresh Products
Buying in bulk my mean that you are cluttering up space in your cupboards for other items. You may find in a smaller kitchen or storage space that you do not have enough space to store fresh produce or that you have bought more than your freezer can accommodate.
Disadvantage Thee- You May Buy Products That You Don’t Actually Need
It can be tempting when you see offers and savings that require you to buy in bulk, to purchase items regardless of whether or not you need them. This will again result in a wastage of food and money.
